On the one hand, it tells an encouraging story of growth for 2022. But on the other, the data also makes clear that that growth was badly hampered by a massive backlog in visa processing that led thousands of students to postpone or cancel their plans for language study in Canada. UNITED STATES
The DET is accepted by 97 of the top 100 universities in the US, ranked by U.S. News, including Columbia University, the University of Chicago, Duke University, and Yale University.

And it’s also accepted by all of the top 25 universities that enroll the most international students in the US.

CANADA
The DET is accepted by 14 of the U15 Research Universities, including University of Toronto, McGill University, and University of Waterloo.

It’s also accepted by 9 of the 10 most popular colleges by study permits issued in Canada, including Conestoga College, Centennial College, and Seneca College, and by the 10 highest international student-enrolling universities.

More students are doing research for study abroad

A major global survey conducted earlier this year shows that 56% of surveyed prospective students began researching study abroad options only six months before applying to a university – or even less than that.

In fact, the total volume of student weeks in 2022 was higher than in 2019 or in any year before that, with Colombia an increasingly important driver of growth.

English Exams you can trust

A newly released, large-scale survey suggests that some prospective students are planning for study abroad on a tighter-than-usual window this year (six months or less before application). The findings also reinforce the important themes we have seen in other studies over the last couple of years, including a greater emphasis on safety and student wellness and a clear focus on work opportunities and career outcomes. Canadian government pauses deportation of Indian students

The Canadian government has announced it will adopt a case-by-case approach to investigating the circumstances of Indian students who entered Canada on the basis of fraudulent documents.

Most students did not even know their documents were forged by an unscrupulous person posing as an agent.

Foreign enrolment surging in US graduate programmes

US colleges and universities received more graduate applications in Fall 2022 than Fall 2021, and there are now more first-time international students in graduate programmes than there were in 2018.

Indian students are driving the surge of applications to US graduate programmes, particularly at the master’s level.
